Membership (formal, guest and associated)

The research school was founded in 1994 as a collaboration between the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), and Leiden University (UL). PhD students, postdocs, and staff members from UvA, VU, and UL can become official members. Those who are formally affiliated with another research school (e.g., NIOK or Casimir) but are actively involved in HRSMC activities may join as guest members.

In addition to official and guest memberships, an associated membership was introduced in 2016 for PhD students, postdocs, and staff members from institutions outside UvA, VU, and UL. This category was established following a request from staff members at Radboud University Nijmegen (RU) who wished to join HRSMC.
